Looking for advice for China in May
I'll be in Xi'an, China for a conference on the second week of May this year. I haven't had very much time to plan yet, but roughly I was planning to stay for 5-7 days or so travelling solo after the conference finishes. I was anticipating spending a couple days in Xi'an, then making my way to Beijing and catching a return flight from there. I've never been to Asia so I'm a little apprehensive about the language barrier I'm going to encounter.
Things of interest:
-
in Xi'an: Terra Cotta warriors, City Wall, old city, museums.
-
train to Beijing (potentially overnight)
-
in Beijing: hiking along the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City
What other interesting things are there to see? I'm travelling on a grad student budget, so I'm hoping to find hostels or other cheap accomodation.
Thanks in advance.
